I shall start by pointing out the positives first, visually if you watch it in a decent cinema (and not VUE that at 90s prices offers 90s technology ) it is good, the acting is good and moments here and there are good.
Now the bad points and spoilers...
We are introduced within the first 5 minutes to Palpatine, I am confident that neither of the previous 2 movies mentioned any greater being than Snoke.
Miraculously they learn of the a beacon / tracker that can lead them to the First Orders massive army.
Everything is conveniently placed, they find a dagger that reveals the location of a tracker. C3PO can read it, but cant translate it but can cause his memory to wipe, they d it for the greater good, but all it takes is R2D2s finger in C3POs butt to get his memory back up to the point before they went on that mission?
Why did Chewie run after Rey and how easily he got caught? Then his so called death feels so anti-dramatic, this is a character you have an attachment to since 1977 but even that fake death feels cheap.
Kylo Ren is chasing Rey and catches up to her, they have a farting face force fight, blow up a ship and the Kylo Ren just lets her go?
The reveal of the spy within the first order was just random, why all of sudden has this person decided to help? it has to be more than just hating Kylo Ren?
Horse on a Star Destroyer up high in the atmosphere?
And the biggest ridiculous thing of all, Jedi healing, for 8 movies we hear nothing about it (and unless you have been watching the Mandalorian where it has come up, which is set before this) its not only used easily but mastered by 2 people?
Clearly you can see they tried to do damage control and I have a feeling for what was planned with episode 8 alot of the plot holes would have been covered but this is a total mess.
Oh and the last line in the film. clearly by now you are aware that Rey is a Palpatine, wont even go into there was no mention or indication that Palpatine had any family) who are you? I am Rey. Skywalker. Might as well had said I am Batman. it had no impact.
Also the scenes with Leia in them you can see she was CGI'd into her scenes and her death felt cheap too, but cant really blame anyone for that as Carrie Fisher passed away.
Rian Johnson messed up this trilogy.
